The University of Lyon II (KNOWN as Lyon II for short) was originally founded in 1896 as the University of Lyon.
It is a comprehensive university of literature, languages and the humanities, law, political science, economics and management, offering more than 300 different diploma courses.There are six faculties: Anthropology and Sociology, Law and politics, Geographic-History-Art History and Tourism, language, Literature-Language Science and art, and economics and Management.Five specialized schools: psychology, communication and exchange, labor research, education and training, science and Practice, trade union organization;
4 university Vocational Colleges (IUP);One university Technical College (IUT) and one political Science College (IEP).
The University of Lyon II has 43 research laboratories, 20 of which are partners of the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and 5 doctoral schools.The University of Lyon II has an International Centre for The Teaching of French (CIEF), which offers a variety of external French courses, including summer courses.In addition, the school also has a foreign language center which teaches a variety of contemporary foreign languages and offers academic mobility preparatory classes.The University benefits from its strategic location at the crossroads of North and South Europe, partnering with more than 140 European universities and 88 non-European universities in student and faculty exchanges and other collaborative initiatives, including multiple dual diploma programmes.
