The Second University of Grenoble (also known as The University of Pielmont) was founded in 1970, originally part of the University of Grenoble (founded in 1339), is a comprehensive university mainly in social and humanities disciplines.

The University consists of four university schools: The School of Law, the School of Economics, the School of Humanities, the School of Social Sciences and humanities, and four independent schools: the Valenciennes School of Science and Technology, the Second School of Science and Technology, the Grenoble School of Urban Planning, and the School of Business Administration.
