The University of Akron is an American public university. It was founded in 1870 as a small college and passed to the city of Akron in 1913.
In 1967 the University of Akron became a state university.
The University of Akron consists of the Buchtel School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business and Management, the School of Education, the School of Engineering, the School of The Arts, the School of Law, the School of Nursing, the School of Polymer Science and Engineering, the School of Honors, the University College, Wayne College and Summitt College.
